Responsibilities
- Provides support to less experienced team members, providing guidance in preparing deliverables, verifying accuracy, and resolving technical issues.
- Executes payment processing, including tax-related transactions, and performs reconciliations across systems.
- Apply established procedures to independently complete routine and moderately complex work with minimal guidance.
- Assists with team knowledge sharing and onboarding support to promote consistency and efficiency.
- Identifies process gaps, supports workflow improvements, and change initiatives.
- Partners with internal teams to resolve customer issues and support service delivery.
- Researches and resolves client accounting and tax-related issues; identifies root causes and implements solutions within defined guidelines.
- Performs non-routine and some routine task; resolves most issues independently and escalates more complex matters as needed.
- Reconciles disability, absence and statutory payments for moderately complex accounts; reviews for discrepancies and ensures accuracy.
- Analyze account activity, customer requests, invoices, and payment history to determine appropriate actions.
- Prepares journal entries and supports ongoing transaction accuracy.
- Ensures accuracy of tax reporting and support responses to standard inquires (e.g., W-2s, 1099s).
- Communicate with internal partners and external contacts to obtain information and resolve issues.
- Participate in team or client discussions as needed to support issue resolution and process improvements.
- Reconciles group and/or individual disability and statutory payments for moderate to complex client accounts; reconciles bank accounts, reviews disability and absence claim files for variances and matches relevant details to benefit payment calculations.
- Coordinates with disability case managers and statutory states for select groups.
- Analyzes and handles service requirements from various sources associated with moderately complex accounts; handles client escalations.
- Reviews incoming customer requests and logs required data; creates journal entries for the general ledger to record/correct ongoing transactions.
- Audits and corrects source systems to ensure accuracy of payments for taxes, ensures accurate year-end tax reporting to federal and state government agencies; responds to inquiries from claimants on W2’s and 1099s.
- Creates and distributes monthly reporting to clients and upper management; communicates internally and externally with policyholders, associates, coordinators, and various departments to confirm or obtain additional information.
- Attends and participates in customer meetings as appropriate to discuss feedback and/or needed process enhancements.
- Performs other duties as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree In accounting, finance or a related field.
- 4 or more years of professional job-related experience.
- Knowledge of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) codes and regulations, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP), municipal ordinances, state insurance department statutes, and other state regulations, with an emphasis on tax accounting/reporting.
