The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG) is seeking a Strategy and Engagement Officer to support devolution and intergovernmental working across the UK, particularly in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The role involves coordinating activities, engaging stakeholders, and supporting policy development.
Location: Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast
Salary: £36,169 plus £10,478 pension contribution
Responsibilities
- Supporting planning, execution, and monitoring of team work aligned with stakeholder requirements and priorities.
- Monitoring and reporting on MHCLG activities in Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland to support UK-wide policies.
- Supporting engagement with internal and external stakeholders including local authorities and devolved governments.
- Identifying and tracking emerging trends, risks, and opportunities through horizon scanning and analysis.
- Ensuring team tools and products are up to date and making use of AI and other tools for efficient information use.
- Contributing to a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor approach to different audiences.
- Effective stakeholder management skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Strong organisational skills, proactive and able to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently and within teams in a matrix management system.
- Proficient in IT systems, including Microsoft Windows, Office, SharePoint, and awareness of AI tools like Copilot.
