Senior Executive Officer (Corporate Governance) – Flexible

The role is for a Senior Executive Officer in Corporate Governance at Life Without Barriers, a large social purpose organization in Australia. It involves high-level governance, project support, and secretariat duties, supporting organizational decision-making and compliance.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate Board, Board Committee and Executive governance processes.
- Prepare and manage Board and Committee meeting schedules, agendas, papers, minutes and action tracking.
- Support the Chief Strategy & Governance Officer in delivering contemporary governance practices and frameworks.
- Facilitate the effective flow of information between the Board, Executive Leadership Team and governance forums.
- Assist with Director induction, Board development activities and Board performance reviews.
- Maintain governance records, registers and statutory documentation.
- Support the organisation to meet its obligations under relevant legislation, including the Corporations Act, ACNC requirements and organisational governance frameworks.
- Coordinate conflict of interest processes and governance reporting requirements.
- Assist in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of governance policies, systems and processes.
- Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and good governance across the organisation.
- Lead governance-related projects and initiatives.
- Contribute to organisational planning, reporting and strategic governance activities.
- Support the implementation of governance frameworks that strengthen organisational effectiveness and accountability.
- Provide high-quality research, analysis and written advice to support decision-making.
Requirements
- Significant experience in governance, executive support, company secretariat, legal, compliance or a related discipline.
- Experience supporting Boards, Committees, Executives or senior leadership teams within a complex organisation.
- Strong understanding of governance frameworks, corporate governance principles and regulatory obligations.
- Exceptional written communication skills, including preparation of Board papers, reports, briefings and governance documentation.
- Highly developed project management and organisational skills.
- Strong analytical capability, with the ability to distil complex information into clear, concise and meaningful advice.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Experience handling highly sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Relevant governance, legal, business, public administration or related qualifications will be highly regarded.
