Axios is a growth-stage company dedicated to providing trustworthy, essential news in a format that respects readers' time. They are hiring a reporter to cover Colorado Springs as part of their local news initiative.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $65,000–$100,000/yr

Responsibilities

• Co-authoring a daily Axios newsletter full of insights and scoops that matter most to the Springs
• Interest in covering many aspects of life in the city
• Experimenting with and leveraging AI for reporting and newsletter production
• Writing conversationally, in Axios' Smart Brevity style
• Helping to build Axios Local and shaping how their product evolves

Requirements

• Experience covering Colorado Springs
• Excellent sources and the desire to create new ones
• Ability to break news and create conceptual scoops
• Omnivorous curiosity about your hometown, no matter how long you've lived there
• Ideas, ideas, ideas
• Comfort flexing some voice and personality in your writing
• Proven experience working in a fast-paced news environment and on deadline
• The desire to make yourself indispensable to local readers and to Axios Local
