Network Engineer III - Optical

Zayo is seeking a Network Engineer III - Optical responsible for designing, link engineering, and capacity implementation on the DWDM network, with a focus on communication and project management.

Location: United States

Salary: $77,100 - $118,600 USD/annually

Responsibilities

• Design planning, record creation, and capacity fulfillment across the U.S and Canada.
• Work with Project Managers and Design and Implementation Engineers during capacity projects.
• Design DWDM network per standards and future growth, implement circuit designs.
• Provide direction in circuit design for transport and facilities orders.
• Review capacity requests for correctness and clarify design issues.
• Maintain customer commitments and provide project status updates.
• Support field operations in resolving provisioning problems.
• Work with internal customers and participate in development of standards and procedures.
• Manage workload, prioritize critical issues, and work around obstacles to meet deadlines.
• Participate in operations projects and support escalations.
• Stay updated on technology and cross-train as needed.

Requirements

• Ability to meet deadlines, perform multiple tasks, and resolve customer conflicts.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of optical systems and signal flow designs using ROADM technology.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, Google programs, and project management software.
• Familiarity with optical products like Fuji, Adva, Ciena, Cisco, Infinera, Nokia.
• Experience with Salesforce, ServiceNow, Sitetracker, and telecom inventory systems.

Additional Information

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years' telecommunications and optical experience.
• Position may be eligible for incentive plans depending on role.
