Engineering Manager

Teya is a payment and software service provider based in London, serving small businesses across Europe. They focus on building easy-to-use, integrated tools to help small businesses accept payments and improve performance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of backend engineers.
• Manage team performance, development, and career growth.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and engineering teams to deliver onboarding features.
• Drive standards for architecture, security, automation, and maintainability.
• Own team delivery, system reliability, and process improvements.
• Contribute to product roadmap.
• Mentor engineers on technical and architectural decisions.
• Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and capacity planning.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience managing engineers.
• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally in backend systems with Java, Kotlin, or similar.
• Experience in systems design, especially in high-throughput, secure, or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with automation-first development principles.
• Strong communication skills.
• Comfortable with Agile methodologies.
• Solution-oriented mindset.
