Media Officer and Social Media Coordinator

The role involves developing and executing media and digital strategies to promote animal rights campaigns, requiring strong communication skills, media relations experience, and a commitment to animal rights issues. The position also entails acting as a spokesperson and managing social media engagement.
Location: Remote (APAC)
Responsibilities
- Create regional and country-specific marketing and media plans for celebrity campaigns, video launches, investigations, news conferences, and news releases.
- Identify, contact, and develop relationships with media outlets and journalists.
- Maintain and update a media database.
- Prepare news releases and media statements, translate them if needed, and follow up with media outlets.
- Track and analyze media pitch results and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Develop and execute strategies for web content to reach targeted audiences.
- Generate content for digital assets including website articles, online advocacy, and social media.
- Create and distribute email content to members and supporters.
- Act as a spokesperson and give interviews when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of animal rights issues and campaigns.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, both written and oral.
- Some knowledge or experience with media relations preferred.
- Extensive experience managing social media pages with proven engagement success.
- Excellent research skills.
- Sense of urgency, initiative, and follow-through.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Professional manner in dealing with various people.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be vegan.
- Supportive of PETA’s philosophy and able to advocate professionally for the group’s positions.
