DoD SkillBridge - IT/Cybersecurity Internship

Apex Systems is seeking active-duty U.S. military members for a DoD SkillBridge IT/Cybersecurity internship. The program offers technical training, industry certifications, and networking to support a transition into civilian IT careers.

Location: Remote/Various locations

Responsibilities

• Participate in self-paced IT and cybersecurity training toward certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, CCNA, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Azure-900, CISSP, CySA+, Linux+, CISM, CCNP, and prepare for certification exams.
• Connect with other transitioning service members exploring or entering IT career fields.
• Participate in peer-to-peer conversations, share experiences, and help fellow veterans understand SkillBridge opportunities, IT career pathways, and transition tools.
• Build a professional network supporting long-term career growth and job exploration.
• Serve as a resource for new SkillBridge participants by sharing insights on study strategies, certifications, and navigating civilian IT roles.
• Take part in program onboarding, goal setting, mentorship activities, professional development, and complete out-processing activities and interviews for full-time roles.

Requirements

• Active-duty U.S. military and SkillBridge eligible.
• Active Secret clearance or higher (minimum).
• Security+ certification or relevant IT experience with a desire to obtain certifications during the internship.
• Willingness to work in Washington, DC, or another Apex location post-internship.
• Strong self-discipline and ability to manage a remote, self-paced schedule.
• Interest in pursuing a career in IT, cybersecurity, or technical support roles.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Motivation to support peers and actively participate in networking.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Additional Information

• Intern must be willing to live/work in the Washington, DC region, or potentially other Apex locations if hired.
• This is not a remote job if hired afterward.
