The ER/LR Director leads employee relations and labor relations strategies across North America and LATAM, managing investigations, team development, and union negotiations to foster a positive, compliant workplace culture.

Location: Remote (North America and LATAM)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Employee Relations Advisors.
  • Investigate complex, high-risk employee relations cases.
  • Provide expertise and consultation on employee behavior and performance.
  • Interpret and apply company policies on employee relations.
  • Analyze ER data and provide insights for program improvements.
  • Facilitate ER training initiatives.
  • Embed continuous performance improvement culture.
  • Develop and execute labor relations strategies.
  • Lead collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Partner with leaders to assess and mitigate labor risks.
  • Guide and support union-related activities.
  • Design and implement union avoidance strategies.
  • Support grievance, arbitration, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Monitor labor market trends and legislative developments.
  • Develop and facilitate labor relations training.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Employee Relations in a matrixed organization.
  • Expert knowledge of employee relations, risk management, and investigations.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage a high-performing team.
  • Extensive experience in workplace investigations.
  • Ability to resolve complex issues and lead in ambiguous situations.
  • Strong collaboration skills with internal stakeholders.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with large data sets.
  • High Emotional Intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience developing labor relations strategies in complex organizations.
  • Experience serving on labor negotiation teams.
  • Deep understanding of U.S. labor laws, including NLRA.
  • Experience managing labor relations in unionized and non-union environments.
  • Ability to influence senior leaders in high-risk situations.
  • Masters in HR, JD, or related labor/employee relations training.
