Area Accountant

The Area Accountant performs accounting activities to record, analyze, and monitor financial information, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. They may act as a resource for accounting and administrative staff and handle a broad array of accounting duties.

Location: United States

Salary: $70,304.00 to $85,350.00

Responsibilities

• Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions.
• Prepares monthly and quarterly operational performance reports.
• Assists the Area Controller in ensuring proper internal controls, including compliance with policies, Sarbanes Oxley, and statutory requirements.
• Reconciles balance sheet accounts and analyzes financial statements in accordance with GAAP and company policy.
• May assist in managing accounting personnel and provide direction to various accounting functions.
• Supports the Area Controller during the budget and forecasting processes.
• Supports accounting for capital expenditures, transfers, and retirements.
• Assists with financial audits, including internal and external audits.
• Provides support and responds to information requests from corporate and regional financial management.
• Performs other related duties.

Requirements

• Accounting experience.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
• Intermediate MS Excel skills.
• Ability to research and follow up on non-standard situations.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Experience with general ledger software, Oracle, and other industry-standard programs.
