Patient Advocate

The Patient Advocate position supports patients through live chat, phone, and email, managing medical billing processes and addressing billing issues to improve healthcare billing experiences.
Location: Remote
Salary: $19.47–$21.64/hr
Responsibilities
- Manage 60-80 patient calls regarding medical bills
- Handle patient questions via Cedar platform through chat, phone, and outbound calls
- Escalate issues to healthcare providers
- Lead payment posting and follow up on defaulted payments
- Follow up with insurance and third parties
- Meet team and individual satisfaction and collection metrics
Requirements
- 2-3 years of customer service experience via phone or call center
- 1-2 years of medical billing, insurance, or healthcare experience
- Experience with electronic medical record systems (Athena, eClinicalWorks, Medik, CareVoyant, Nextgen, Epic)
- Proficiency in Google Suite
- Ability to toggle between multiple systems and efficient typing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated with attention to detail
- Empathy and passion for customer service
- Problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Open to ambiguity and change
- Flexibility with schedule
