WSP is seeking an Energy Market Advisor to support power market modeling, strategic advisory, and energy infrastructure projects. The role involves client-facing work, data analysis, and collaboration across engineering, economics, and policy teams, primarily supporting utilities, system operators, and project developers.
Location: Remote (US)
Salary: $106,100–$189,000/yr
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain advanced power market models for price forecasting, capacity expansion, and congestion analysis.
- Conduct integrated resource planning and scenario analysis for generation portfolios and system reliability.
- Support infrastructure advisory engagements across renewable, conventional generation, transmission, oil & gas, and nuclear assets.
- Deliver technical due diligence and investment analysis for energy infrastructure projects.
- Develop client-ready reports, models, and presentations.
- Manage multiple projects in fast-paced environments.
- Analyze large datasets using Python, Excel, R, and SQL to generate insights.
- Build and enhance analytical tools and market intelligence products.
- Design scenario-based models incorporating market rules, policies, and constraints.
- Monitor trends in energy markets, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies.
- Translate research into market perspectives to guide client strategy.
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams and engage stakeholders.
- Support contract review processes and perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy Systems, Engineering, Finance/Economics or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in energy market modeling and utility planning or infrastructure advisory.
- Strong experience with PLEXOS or similar power system modeling tools.
- Experience with electricity markets (ISO/RTO structures such as ERCOT, PJM, MISO).
- Understanding of financial instruments and financial analysis.
- Knowledge of financial theory, including WACC calculations.

Additional Information
- Travel required: 25%+.
- Expected salary range: $106,100 - $189,000 (all locations), $106,100 - $157,500 (Colorado).
