UI/UX Design Lead

Clay is a global design agency building digital products and brands for clients like Slack, Google, Snapchat, Amazon, and Coinbase. They are looking for a UI/UX Design Lead to join remotely or in Serbia, focusing on design excellence, mentoring, and process improvement.

Location: Remote or Serbia

Responsibilities

• Lead projects from research and discovery to final delivery, ensuring client-ready results.
• Review and refine team work, provide constructive feedback, and step in with hands-on support when needed.
• Mentor and guide UI/UX Designers, helping them grow and maintaining high design standards.
• Take responsibility for client updates – from final design checks to organizing presentation materials.
• Improve workflows, optimize design processes, and keep project files and documentation organized.
• Validate design estimates and communicate priorities early to support effective project planning.
• Oversee design system creation and implementation, ensuring consistency across projects.
• Foster a collaborative design culture through guidelines, workshops, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• 5+ years of digital design experience, including at least 2+ years in a leadership role within an agency or product team.
• Strong hands-on UI/UX skills with the ability to guide, mentor, and inspire designers.
• Experience solving complex UX challenges and aligning design decisions with business strategy and user needs.
• Experience leading projects from research to delivery, ensuring quality and consistency.
• Ability to conduct design reviews, give constructive feedback, and set quality standards.
• Knowledge of building and managing design systems for scalability and consistency.
• Skills in design operations: organizing workflows, structuring files, preparing documentation, and collaboration.
• Effective collaboration with PMs and developers for smooth delivery.
• Comfortable taking responsibility for client-facing deliverables and presentations.
• Strong written English skills; fluency in spoken English preferred.
• Timezone within 2 hours of CET.
