Sr Dir, Underwriting - Remote, Certified Actuary (FSA/ASA)

The role involves developing and underwriting new product financial and programmatic cost models, working with existing models and customers on product enhancements, and collaborating with various departments including Finance. The position reports to the VP, Underwriting, and supports strategic analysis and ad-hoc projects for executive management.

Location: Remote

Salary: $117,860–$200,360/yr

Responsibilities

• Develops, documents, and applies underwriting procedures, analytical approaches, and tools for new products and enhancements.
• Reviews utilization, cost trends, and assumptions in pricing models.
• Evaluates the cost impact and risk of new product initiatives.
• Oversees underwriting procedures for new and existing business.
• Provides recommendations on product and customer rates for senior management.
• Analyzes claims data from multiple sources for RFPs and renewals.
• Interacts with clients and internal staff to resolve issues.

Requirements

• Knowledge of underwriting principles in a managed care environment.
• Excellent written and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and adherence to deadlines.
• Willingness to learn new product lines and adapt.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with MS Access.
• Actuarial pricing experience.
