Principal Presales Engineer

Twilio is seeking a Principal Presales Engineer to lead technical pre-sales relationships, propose architectures, demonstrate products, and build customer trust in communications solutions. The role involves engaging with executives and software engineers, mentoring peers, and working independently on complex opportunities.

Location: Remote, but not eligible in CT, NJ, NY, WA, PA, or surrounding areas of San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, or San Jose, CA.

Salary: $154k–$192k

Responsibilities

• Partner with Account Executives on pre-sales activities including opportunity qualification, demonstrations, Proof-of-Concept, RFP, design documentation, technical presentations, and enablement sessions.
• Lead technical discovery sessions with customers to understand needs and challenges, demonstrating capabilities to facilitate success.
• Build and present complex presentations and product demos showcasing Twilio Communications Products.
• Establish as a trusted advisor, introducing innovative solutions and architectures.
• Contribute to the Solutions Engineering community through knowledge sharing, demonstration materials, and reusable presentations.

Requirements

• Bachelors and/or Masters degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science) or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 8 years in a solutions engineering (presales) role, or 10+ years of professional experience supporting technical products with customer-facing experience.
• Experience with customer engagement, supporting products and technologies, and communicating ROI across use cases.
• Exceptional technical proficiency and thought leadership.
• Superior written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer-focused problem solver with ability to craft technical solutions.
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
• Previous software development experience in backend (Java, C#, Node.js, Python, PHP), web development (JavaScript, HTML/CSS, frameworks like React, Vue.js, Angular), or with REST APIs.
