The Policy Associate, Fusion Policy, supports CATF's efforts to advance fusion energy policy across U.S. federal, U.S. state, and European contexts through research, policy development, advocacy, and external engagement.
Location: Remote, flexible, must be able to work East Coast hours
Salary: $85,000 – $106,000/yr
Responsibilities
- Support development of fusion policy positions, reports, and roadmaps across U.S. federal, state, and European contexts
- Conduct research on policy frameworks, commercialization pathways, and public funding mechanisms
- Translate technical and programmatic insights into clear, policy-relevant analysis
- Support engagement with federal, state, and European policymakers, including relevant government agencies and stakeholders
- Contribute to advocacy efforts advancing key priorities such as appropriations, tax incentives, and regulatory frameworks for fusion energy
- Prepare materials for external meetings, briefings, and stakeholder engagement
- Represent CATF in external meetings or forums, as appropriate
- Support coordination across CATF’s U.S. Federal, U.S. State, and European advocacy teams to align priorities and execution
- Collaborate with internal teams, including legal and program staff, to integrate policy and regulatory considerations
- Contribute to alignment across Fusion Program priorities and workstreams
- Contribute to the development and execution of fusion policy advocacy strategies
- Track policy developments and identify emerging opportunities
- Support rapid-response analysis for evolving policy discussions
- Draft policy briefs, reports, blog posts, and other written outputs
- Support stakeholder engagement and relationship management
- Contribute to external communications and thought leadership
- Provide day-to-day coordination support across fusion policy activities
- Assist with planning for events, convenings, and stakeholder engagement
- Support broader Fusion Program priorities related to policy work
- Support the Global director of the Fusion Program in aspects related to the policy work
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 3+ years of professional experience in energy, climate, technology, or public policy (advanced degree may count toward experience)

- This is a full-time, remote position, with location flexible.
- Annual salary range of $85,000 – $106,000, dependent on skills and experience.
- Candidates outside the U.S. will have compensation determined based on local market benchmarks and cost-of-living considerations.
- Candidates must be authorized to work in their country of residence.
