Head of Engineering (Marketplace)

Treatwell is seeking a Head of Engineering for the Marketplace area to lead and grow multiple cross-functional Product Engineering teams, focusing on building scalable experiences connecting customers and venues, and developing future leaders.

Location: UK or Spain (any city), with the right to work in those locations

Responsibilities

• Drive Marketplace outcomes by co-owning and supporting teams in exploring problems, shaping solutions, and delivering measurable business impact.
• Set the technical direction for the Marketplace area, ensuring reliability, maintainability, performance, and security, and driving consistency across teams.
• Develop strong leaders and teams by growing engineering managers and senior contributors, owning hiring, succession planning, and talent development.
• Improve developer experience and enable delivery by removing barriers, evolving shared foundations, and responsibly using AI tooling.
• Champion inclusivity, transparency, and continuous improvement across Product, Design, and Engineering.
• Support teams in strategic focus, translating company objectives into clear priorities, and balancing business needs with technical and team health.
• Build strong collaboration across Treatwell to operate as an integral part of a product-led organization, working with other functions to shape priorities and deliver value.

Requirements

• Experienced leader of leaders, coaching engineering managers and team leads.
• Effective at aligning priorities, communicating trade-offs, and navigating cross-company contexts.
• Skilled in balancing execution, strategy, and people leadership, building sustainable processes and healthy team dynamics.
• Able to shape technical direction to improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience, empowering teams to own execution details.
• Proficient in building trust-based relationships across technical and non-technical partners.
• Strategic thinker with pragmatism and ambition, committed to team success and scaling beyond direct involvement.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
• Based in the UK or Spain, with the right to work in those locations.
