Finance Specialist / Manager

Epoch is seeking a Finance Specialist and Finance Manager to oversee accounting and finance operations, including daily accounting, reporting, and financial oversight. The roles involve managing finance systems, automations, and potentially leading software migrations, with a focus on nonprofit financial management.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $80,000–$120,000 USD for Specialist, $100,000–$140,000 USD for Manager

Responsibilities

• Manage finance operations including review of payment requests, disbursements, vendor and contractor payments, and maintaining SOPs.
• Manage Mercury and credit card operations, track sub-budgets, and support daily accounting functions in QuickBooks Online.
• Coordinate with external accountants, invoice clients, track receivables, and prepare financial forms.
• Manage fund balances, prepare schedules for audits and Form 990, produce monthly reports.
• Coordinate annual audits, own SOPs and policies, support internal controls, and build financial forecasting tools.
• Support capital management strategies, manage contractors and vendors, and evaluate software migration.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in finance operations in a complex nonprofit or high-growth startup environment.
• Understanding of nonprofit and multi-entity accounting, including GAAP.
• Hands-on QuickBooks experience.
• Ability to take ownership and operate with high agency.
• Enthusiasm for AI tools, automation, and streamlining processes.
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to navigate ambiguity.
• Interest in Epoch AI's mission.
