Electrical Design Engineer

Electrical Design Engineer responsible for designing building electrical systems, including power, lighting, fire alarm, and special systems, with a focus on healthcare projects. The role offers professional growth and leadership opportunities within a collaborative, people-first culture.

Location: San Francisco/San Jose (Remote)

Salary: $100,000 to $120,000 USD annually

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical system designs in accordance with project scope, client requirements, applicable codes, and industry standards.
• Provide engineering planning, design, and construction administration services for power distribution systems, lighting and lighting control systems, fire alarm systems, Nurse Call systems, and other low voltage systems.
• Perform existing building surveys and document current electrical and fire alarm conditions.
• Prepare, edit, and coordinate electrical specifications and construction documents.
• Author engineering reports, assessment reports, and Basis of Design (BOD) documents.
• Coordinate closely with internal project teams, architects, and other engineering disciplines.
• Participate in and lead technical discussions, design coordination meetings, and client presentations.
• Support construction administration activities, including RFIs, submittal reviews, and field coordination as needed.
• Assist Project Managers with technical input, schedule coordination, and project execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience.
• Experience with healthcare, science and technology, education, and/or commercial buildings is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of and experience with HCAI / OSHPD standards is a plus.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience preferred.
• Proficiency in electrical engineering calculations, including lighting photometric calculations, voltage drop analysis, short‑circuit and overcurrent protection studies, and load calculations.
