Direct Billing Supervisor

The Direct Bill Supervisor oversees the Direct Bill team, manages relationships with offshore teams, carriers, brokers, and senior business operations, and ensures accurate commission processing, reconciliations, and revenue management across P&C and L&H lines.

Salary: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annual

Responsibilities

• Manage the Direct Bill team based in the U.S., providing guidance, support, and coaching.
• Oversee offshore team collaboration to ensure accuracy and efficiency in processing.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with staff to manage, develop, provide feedback, and offer mentorship or training.
• Act as the point of escalation for complex direct bill issues and outages, working with carriers, branches, and internal stakeholders.
• Establish and maintain relationships with carriers, brokers, and branch offices.
• Coordinate with banking teams to manage direct bill cash receipts, deposits, and ACH payments.
• Own the health and maintenance of the Direct Bill subledger, ensuring timely reconciliations and accuracy.
• Analyze, research, and resolve complex issues impacting direct bill accounting processes.
• Review, create, and implement process improvements.
• Oversee carrier/broker login credentials, producer code lists, and banking information.
• Collaborate with various teams to resolve system/data issues and maintain accuracy.
• Collaborate with the Accounting Integration team for workflow transitions.
• Ensure all commission statements are received and reconciled before month-end.
• Conduct monthly audits of the Direct Bill subledger.
• Review balances and confirm accuracy against the General Ledger.
• Monitor and report on aged items, reconciling variances.
• Compile and analyze financial data for leadership reporting.
• Develop and implement training plans for staff.
• Cross-train team members across P&C and L&H.
• Define and maintain KPIs related to team productivity and accuracy.
• Provide regular reporting and insights to leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of experience in insurance accounting, direct bill, or related field.
• Strong understanding of commission reconciliations, subledger management, and accounting principles.
• Prior experience managing U.S. and offshore staff strongly preferred.
• Proficiency in Comulate, Epic, AMS360, BenefitPoint, Smartsheet, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information

• This position is remote, but occasional travel may be required.
• The role involves frequent overtime, particularly during high-volume periods.
• Must have the ability to work overtime & travel as needed or required.
