Department Head

JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey. All roles are unpaid and involve a minimum six-month commitment with flexible hours.

Location: Remote

Salary: Unpaid (pro-bono)

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction to marketing team, including leading weekly meetings, coaching team members, and ensuring cohesive messaging and branding.
• Work with Operations leadership to align goals, projects, and messaging.
• Develop a 12-month marketing plan in support of organizational strategy.
• Oversee volunteers responsible for graphic design, copy, website maintenance, and social media campaigns.
• Lead social media campaigns to generate excitement and traffic.
• Ensure marketing collateral and process documentation are up-to-date.
• Recommend and oversee measurement/analytics implementation.

Requirements

• Interest in JerseySTEM's mission and willingness to commit for 12 months, 6 hours/week.
• 5-7+ years of leadership experience in Marketing or related fields.
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field preferred.
• Experience managing a marketing team or leading marketing efforts.
• Familiarity with Canva/Figma.
• Agency experience is a plus.
• Ability to identify key messaging and marketing needs.

Additional Information

• All roles are pro-bono (unpaid).

• Membership includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership.
• Ideal for retired marketing professionals or those on a long-term break (12 months).
