Communications and Social Media Consultant

Climate Defiance is seeking a communications professional for a short-term role to manage their communications team and produce social media content, with potential for a long-term position.

Location: United States

Salary: $50–$80 / hour

Responsibilities

• Managing a small communications team of content creators and designers.
• Project management to ensure work is on track.
• Editing written content for a consistent voice across platforms.
• Creating written social media content such as tweets, Substack essays, and visual design copy.
• Working on messaging for activist actions or campaigns.

Requirements

• Background in activism, nonprofit communications, and/or journalism.
• Team and project management skills.
• Strong writing and editing skills.
• Experience with social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, and Substack.
• Well-honed political attunement and alignment with organization’s values and mission.

Benefits

• Hourly consulting position with no additional benefits.
• Approximately 20 hours per week, set hours of availability (e.g., 9am-1pm PST daily).
