Attractions Instructor

The Attraction Instructor is a versatile professional responsible for guest safety, instruction, and safety enforcement across tours, attractions, and excursions, including water, land, and height activities. The role emphasizes guest interaction, safety, and emergency response, requiring strong communication and rescue skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures safety and guest satisfaction by teaching activity techniques, safety, and equipment use.
  • Delivers experiences to help guests feel confident and overcome challenges.
  • Provides expert advice on equipment use and fit.
  • Leads, instructs, guides, and supervises attractions and activities.
  • Communicates positively with guests and identifies points of interest.
  • Manages large, diverse groups and promotes a safety-first culture.
  • Interprets body language and manages interpersonal situations.
  • Assesses situations logically and adapts protocols as needed.
  • Uses clear communication via radio channels.
  • Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks.
  • Works effectively in teams and maintains autonomy.
  • Resolves guest complaints actively.
  • Responds to distress signals and emergencies calmly.
  • Inspects areas and reports issues to management.
  • Communicates clearly with guests, team members, and management.
  • Maintains communication equipment.
  • Trains new team members.
  • Demonstrates rescue skills, including PWC handling.
  • Cleans and checks safety equipment.
  • Performs maintenance on water and safety equipment.
  • Knows all attractions and manages customer inquiries.
  • Participates in building or repairing equipment.
  • Maintains cleanliness and confidentiality.
  • Keeps certifications up to date.
  • Participates in training, inspections, and meetings.
  • Greet guests and team members warmly.
  • Maintains personal appearance and hygiene.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of guiding/teaching experience.
  • Qualifications in rescue, lifeguarding, and first aid.
  • Proven group supervision experience.
  • Climbing experience is desirable.
  • Ability to pass swim test and obtain lifeguard and first aid certifications.
  • Ability to obtain NFPA Rope Rescue certification.
  • Ability to work in a diverse environment.
  • Knowledge of customer service and problem resolution.
  • Experience managing tour headcount and effective communication.
  • Experience in sales or upselling is an advantage.
  • Experience in driving boats or ability to learn.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate and maintain water equipment.
