Accounts Receivable Representative

The Accounts Receivable Representative at Versant Health is responsible for managing billing, posting payments, reconciling accounts, and supporting month-end close activities within a healthcare finance environment. The role involves communication with clients and internal teams, ensuring accurate account management, and supporting process improvements.

Responsibilities
- Research & apply daily cash (check, ACH, wires, and credit cards) to accounts using excel spreadsheets
- Support downloading lockbox files and complete reconciliation as needed
- Enter daily/weekly credit/debit adjustments into financial systems
- Work closely with clients, brokers and TPAs on billing, statements, and eligibility issues
- Research, reconcile, audit, resolve, and make balance adjustments on accounts in collaboration with Sr Billing
- Manage tracking of adhoc billing in various systems and apply funds
- Establish work procedures and processes for Billing and Accounts Receivable Department
- Maintain and support SOX and/or SOC control activities
- Support month end close activities across Finance
- Follow departmental procedures including phone and R/T queue responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries and review balance sheets and reconciliations
- Respond to inquiries regarding receivable balances
- Prepare and update Excel spreadsheets for AR and collection efforts
- Support reconciliation activities for month end close
- Resolve issues and direct customers appropriately
- Participate in training and educational activities
- Identify pending issues and escalate as needed
- Communicate effectively with internal/external departments
- Assist in special projects and process improvements
- Diffuse and escalate challenging situations
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
- 1-2 years experience in the insurance, health, or vision care industry
- Proven experience in Accounting – Accounts Receivable and Collections
- 2-3 years of Accounts Receivable experience preferred
- Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word, including formulas and vlookup
- Prior experience in customer service and/or accounting knowledge preferred
- Excellent computer skills and communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks
