Underwriting Associate

This role involves managing insurance account renewals, endorsements, and customer relationships, primarily within an insurance branch. The position requires collaboration with underwriters and agents to ensure profitable and compliant insurance policies.

Salary: $46,990 - $64,911 or $51,927 - $71,385

Responsibilities

• Prepares and approves renewals for accounts within authority limit with a focus on long term profitability, retention and achieving branch and company pricing goals.
• Leverages negotiation skills to obtain adequate rate based on branch established guidelines.
• Reviews account information, including coverage details, claims history, and relevant updates or changes.
• Evaluates the risk profile of each account and assesses its eligibility for renewal based on established underwriting guidelines.
• Prepares information for underwriters for accounts outside authority.
• Communicates with agents to ensure renewal information is complete.
• Collaborates with underwriters throughout the renewal process.
• Maintains proper file documentation.
• Develops relationships with agents to promote renewal retention.
• Engages with agents through various communication channels.
• Responds to concerns or issues raised by agents.
• Reviews and approves endorsements within authority.
• Underwrites and provides endorsement quotes.
• Assesses risks associated with endorsements.
• Determines if additional information is needed.
• Reviews and approves reinstatements and cancellations.
• Assists agents with billing inquiries.
• Performs support duties for branch departments.
• Collaborates with underwriters and management to understand risk appetite.

Requirements

• Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience
• One year of insurance industry experience or related experience
• Bachelor’s degree may be considered in lieu of experience
