Underwriting Assistant

Seeking an Underwriter Assistant with experience in underwriting for business auto and other commercial package lines, supporting account servicing, eligibility evaluation, and post-sale client servicing. The role requires strong judgment and hands-on coverage experience to support a profitable book of business.

Salary: $24.00 - $30.00 Hourly

Responsibilities

• Determine eligibility of incoming commercial insurance submissions
• Use underwriting tools and historical reports to make sound underwriting decisions which help ensure a profitable book of business
• Work with senior underwriters to strive for a book of business with a loss ratio lower than 40%
• Review motor vehicle records and determine eligibility for drivers
• Re-rate or revise rating as needed
• Document underwriting decisions

Requirements

• Home state Property & Casualty insurance license preferred
• Proven insurance underwriting knowledge, with commercial auto and other package risks
• Minimum of two years insurance account administration with commercial auto and package business experience, along with ancillary corresponding lines proficiency.
• Associate Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management, or related field. Extended years of insurance experience can partially substitute for lack of degree
• Insurance industry educational certification(s)
