STS ACS, GTS, or Congenital Abstractor (Remote, FT/PT)

Performing primary data abstraction duties for the STS National Database related to adult cardiac, thoracic, or congenital surgery, ensuring high accuracy and validation of data, with a focus on healthcare data management and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

• Collect and abstract data from patient medical records related to vascular surgery, including diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and outcomes.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of abstracted data, cross-referencing information from multiple sources.
• Adhere to clinical data abstraction guidelines and standards such as those set by the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS).
• Enter abstracted data into a database or registry using specialized software, maintaining and updating data as necessary.
• Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity, including audits.
• Stay informed about developments in cardiac care and data management to maintain competency.

Requirements

• Experience abstracting in at least one of the STS Registries (Adult Cardiac, General Thoracic, or Congenital) within the last 2 years.
• Familiarity with medical records, billing/documentation practices, Microsoft Office, and healthcare quality concepts.
• Ability to work independently.
• Reliance on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

• High accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Remote position.
• MSN, BSN, or RN preferred.
• CPHQ preferred.
