Specialist Engineer- Data

Specialty Engineer - Data at Ollion is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing cloud-based data pipelines and solutions across Azure and GCP, supporting data engineering, AI, and ML initiatives in a remote, collaborative environment.

Location: Remote

Salary: $100,000–$130,000

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure and GCP services.
• Develop and maintain data models within multi-cloud data warehouses or data lakes.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data warehouse query performance.
• Collaborate with Data Scientists on feature engineering and vector database pipelines.
• Implement workflows for AI/ML data lifecycle management.
• Work with Data Science teams on model deployment, monitoring, and CI/CD.
• Implement security and governance best practices across cloud platforms.
• Write SQL and develop scripts in Python or other languages for data manipulation and automation.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
• Create and maintain technical documentation.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience with Azure services (Blob Storage, Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse) and GCP services (Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, IAM).
• Expertise in SQL and modern ELT methodologies using tools like dbt.
• Experience with BI tools such as Power BI and Looker.
• Proficiency in Python for data transformation and automation; experience with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, Cloud Composer, or Data Factory.
• Experience working with Data Scientists on ML data pipelines.
• Familiarity with ML lifecycle tools (Vertex AI, Azure ML, Kubeflow, MLflow).
• Knowledge of data security, encryption, masking, and RBAC in cloud data services.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, Azure Bicep, GCP Deployment Manager).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; 4+ years in Data Engineering or related roles.
• Professional certifications such as Azure Data Engineer, Azure AI Engineer, GCP Data Engineer, or GCP ML Engineer.
