Software Systems Engineer w/Secret Clearance

Seeking a Software Systems Engineer with experience supporting government agencies, particularly within federal environments such as the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, and Federal Civil agencies. The role involves designing, coding, testing, and maintaining complex software applications, with a focus on supporting national security and government operations.
Location: Remote with periodic support at Fort Belvoir or other places in the National Capitol Region
Responsibilities
- Formulates/defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.
- Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents for programs.
- Provides overall operating system maintenance, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages.
- Assists all phases of software systems programming applications.
- Evaluates new and existing software products.
Requirements
- 5+ years relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting government agencies, customers, or contracts within federal environments, including the Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), Federal Civil agencies, and military organizations.
- Prior experience supporting the same or similar contract, with an in-depth understanding of the customer environment, requirements, and operational landscape, is highly desirable.
- IAT Level I certification from a nationally recognized technical authority.
- Secret IT II security clearance.

- Work environment is remote with occasional support at Fort Belvoir or other locations in the National Capitol Region.
- Work schedule is day shift Monday – Friday, with possible evening and weekend work.
- Less than 10% travel required.
- Physical demands include handling, reaching, talking, hearing, standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
