Senior Surety Counsel

Applied Underwriters is seeking an experienced Senior Surety Counsel to serve as a subject matter expert for surety claims, leveraging legal, communication, investigation, and negotiation skills to drive claims to resolution. The role involves managing a diverse portfolio of surety claims, with a focus on coverage, liability, and contract interpretation, and fluency in bond procedures and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for a diverse portfolio of surety claims.
• Leverage strong legal, communication, investigation, and negotiation skills to drive claims to resolution.
• Handle sensitive surety claims with extensive knowledge of coverage, liability, and contract interpretation.
• Possess fluency in bond procedures and compliance.
• Provide business support related to commercial surety bonds.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate
• Five or more years of experience managing surety claims.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
