Senior Medical Science Liaison, Neuroscience

The Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) at AbbVie is responsible for facilitating scientific discussions, building relationships with key opinion leaders, supporting research initiatives, and providing scientific training to internal teams. The role requires a strong background in clinical or scientific research and experience in the pharmaceutical environment.
Location: US & Puerto Rico
Responsibilities
- Facilitate and lead scientific discussions with thought leaders and external experts.
- Identify, cultivate, and maintain professional relationships with key opinion leaders in relevant therapeutic areas.
- Ensure AbbVie has a strong medical and scientific presence in key academic centers.
- Support research and educational initiatives, and respond to requests for medical/scientific information.
- Provide scientific training and updates to internal teams such as sales, marketing, and Affiliate Brand Teams.
- Collaborate cross-functionally while maintaining medical/scientific independence.
- Develop and execute project/territory management plans to support shared business objectives.
- Act as a main point of contact to facilitate investigator-initiated studies (IIS) and requests.
- Support the medical affairs team in engaging, selecting, and collaborating with thought leaders for research, advisory boards, and educational roles.
- Collect and communicate medical and scientific field intelligence (e.g., competitor activity, market trends) within the company, all in compliance with applicable regulations and best practice
Requirements
- Pharmacist or Master’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
- Greater than or equal to 3 years as a Medical Science Liaison required.
- At least 2 years of clinical, scientific research related experience or equivalent required.
- Experience in developing and maintaining expert knowledge for the assigned therapeutic area, and in medical research in general.
- Solid knowledge of the pharmaceutical environment and the role of Medical Affairs to advance the medical and scientific objectives of a pharmaceutical company.
