Senior Indirect Tax Compliance Analyst

The role of Senior Indirect Tax Compliance Analyst at GitLab involves managing indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, supporting automation and system improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end global indirect tax compliance including nexus analysis, return preparation, filing, payment, and threshold monitoring.
• Assess SaaS taxability rules and maintain taxability guidance.
• Oversee exemption certificate processes and tax engine configuration.
• Perform monthly accruals and quarterly reconciliations for indirect tax accounts.
• Collaborate with Sales, Billing, Legal, and Accounting on tax matters.
• Drive process improvements focused on automation, operational efficiency, and AI-enabled enhancements.

Requirements

• Experience managing indirect tax compliance in US, Canada, and international jurisdictions.
• Ability to work autonomously handling multiple compliance cycles and deadlines.
• Working knowledge of finance and tax systems such as Avalara, NetSuite, Zuora, and spreadsheets.
• Skill in reconciliation, documentation, and control-oriented work, including SOX support.
• Strong organization, analysis, and communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Relevant education or transferable experience in tax, accounting, or finance; professional certifications or advanced tax education are a plus.
