Senior Backend Software Engineer (Php/Python) - Contractor

A contractor-only, temporary position for a Senior Backend Software Engineer with expertise in PHP and Python, focused on developing and maintaining web services and platforms within a strong engineering culture.

Location: Remote (UTC+3 to UTC-5)

Responsibilities

• Contribute to improving backend, e-commerce, and backoffice services to enhance user experience.
• Scope, lead, and collaborate on technical solutions and specifications for user stories and EPICs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and release features.
• Review and test pull requests to ensure code quality and standards.
• Seek opportunities to improve service quality, performance, maintainability, security, and scalability.
• Contribute to internal AI setup, code libraries, process improvements, and technical decisions.

Requirements

• Proven experience in PHP and Python development, including building, improving, and maintaining solutions used by tens of thousands of users.
• Ownership mindset towards projects and codebases, with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Experience with automated code validation and testing (unit, integration, end-to-end).
• Passion for quality, AI-driven development, and continuous improvement.
