Butter is a team of 6 ex-Airbnbers building a social product focused on small group interactions, creating a space for friendships to evolve online through custom mini-apps, games, utilities, and unique experiences.
Location: Remote or San Francisco, California
Responsibilities
- Design product experiences from first idea to shipped product
- Create simple, elegant solutions to complex interaction problems
- Define interaction patterns, motion, visual systems, and product quality standards
- Design and iterate on user experiences including group spaces, mini-apps, creation flows, and discovery
- Partner with founders, engineering, and product to shape company strategy
- Talk directly with users and translate insights into product direction
- Raise the quality bar across the entire product
Requirements
- 3+ years designing consumer products
- Strong visual design, interaction design, and product thinking
- A portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft and attention to detail
- Ability to simplify complex workflows into intuitive experiences
- Deep understanding of internet culture, communication, and modern social products
- Comfortable working from ambiguity and creating clarity
- Fast execution without sacrificing quality
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills
- Available M-F during regular work hours
