Learning & Development Specialist

HealthCorps is a national non-profit organization focused on improving community health through education, leadership, and service learning, primarily via near-peer mentorship programs involving college-age mentors working with middle and high school students.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $50,000–$55,000/yr

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver onboarding that prepares mentors for various settings, including classroom and club environments.
• Build ongoing professional development for mentors through office hours, live sessions, and coaching.
• Develop practical resources like videos, guides, and templates for mentors.
• Review new lesson plans and activities for clarity, supplies, and timing.
• Provide feedback to curriculum team for real-world implementation.
• Translate curriculum into mentor-ready training materials.
• Partner with Regional Program Managers for local support and accountability.
• Work with data team to analyze program fidelity and activity effectiveness.
• Design training formats suitable for college students, including videos, notifications, and interactive modules.
• Experiment with new training formats like podcasts and LMS modules.
• Spend 10-15% of time observing mentors and gathering feedback to improve training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of experience in education, instructional design, curriculum development, youth development, training, coaching, or public health.
• Familiarity with instructional design frameworks and real-world application.
• Experience working with young adults, especially college students.
• Experience across varied learning environments or age groups is a plus.
• Tech-savvy: experience with LMS (LearnUpon preferred), video editing, design tools like Canva.
• Ability to travel nationally (estimated 10-15%).

• This is a full-time, remote position with occasional evening hours and travel.
• Candidates in hub areas (Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Phoenix, Tucson, Flagstaff, Houston) are preferred.
