Karenni Interpreter

LanguageLine Solutions is hiring remote bilingual Karenni-English phone interpreters to provide interpretation services across various industries, including healthcare, government, and emergency services. The role involves on-demand verbal interpretation to facilitate communication for limited-English speakers and the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $0.75 - $0.90 per minute

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and conduct interpretation professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to established interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and polite expressions.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
• Remain calm during sessions, especially in emergency situations.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions and protocol to meet client expectations.
• Understand industry-specific terminology and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
• Handle emotionally charged or stressful calls and remain on calls for extended periods if needed.

Requirements

• Fluency in Karenni and English and skilled in cultural dynamics.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention, and note-taking skills.
• Ability to stay neutral and objective, even with sensitive subjects.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Ability to adapt to technology enhancements.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without future visa sponsorship.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write in requested languages (highly preferred).
