IT - Infrastructure Systems - DevOps Engineer II

The DevOps Engineer II at Golden 1 Credit Union is responsible for leading automation, infrastructure as code, and cloud platform services in a mission-critical environment, supporting deployment, monitoring, and reliability of systems.

Location: Remote (CA)

Salary: $123,600.00 - $135,000.00 Annually

Responsibilities

• Lead infrastructure-as-code development using Terraform, Python, and PowerShell.
• Manage Linux/Kubernetes cluster environments.
• Deploy solutions following Change Management Processes.
• Support API integration strategies for development teams.
• Ensure system security against cybersecurity threats.
• Identify technical problems and develop updates and fixes.
• Administer, query, and develop dashboards in Splunk.
• Build automation tools to reduce errors and improve customer experience.
• Propose automation solutions to reduce workload.
• Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Design and write tests for infrastructure failure and scaling.
• Create and maintain incident response playbooks.
• Develop automation to ensure repeatability and reduce toil.
• Analyze operational metrics for availability improvements.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and reduce alert fatigue.
• Manage container orchestration environments and optimize deployment workflows.
• Design, build, and manage Docker container environments.
• Create and maintain SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Design and optimize monitoring dashboards and alerting systems.
• Implement code branching strategies using GitHub.
• Use advanced Terraform syntax and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Provision and set up metrics in Prometheus, Thanos, and Grafana.
• Implement cloud standards and operate cloud platform services in Azure.
• Maintain operational documentation and runbooks.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or relevant field.
• Over 4 years of experience as a DevOps Engineer in medium to large environments.
• Proficient in Windows Server, Linux, Azure, VMWare.
• Skilled in Git/GitHub, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, Kubernetes.
• Experienced with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).
• Knowledge of observability platforms (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana).
• Experience with log management (ELK Stack) and databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL).
• Strong in automating infrastructure provisioning and deployment.
• Proficient in creating monitoring dashboards, SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Experience with Azure shared services and cloud engineering standards.
