Ashland Inc. is seeking a Global Payroll Manager to lead and manage global payroll operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency across multiple countries. The role involves overseeing payroll processes, managing a team, and collaborating with various departments.

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end global payroll operations across multiple countries, locations and pay groups (union and non-union), ensuring on-time, accurate, and compliant payroll processing.
- Implement, document, maintain, and continuously improve standard operating procedures and controls.
- Perform and/or oversee payroll reconciliations (gross-to-net, funding, tax, general ledger interfaces) while investigating and resolving variances.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll, tax, wage and hour, and data privacy requirements; coordinate statutory filings and year-end activities.
- Serve as primary point of contact for payroll audits and controls testing (including SOX); provide documentation and evidence and drive remediation.
- Manage relationships with third-party providers; ensure service levels, issue resolution, and contract/SLA adherence.
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Tax, Legal, and IT to resolve escalations, support business initiatives to deliver a positive employee experience.
- Payroll process owner (e.g., Workday/Paycom and SAP as applicable) responsible for oversight of testing, upgrades, process changes and integrations.
- Develop and report key performance metrics and analytics; present insights and process improvement recommendations to leadership.
- Lead, coach, and develop payroll team members and/or regional partners; set priorities, provide training to ensure consistent execution of global standards.
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related experience required; OR you have 10+ years of direct Global Payroll, multi country experience then a degree is not required
- 8-10 years managing a multi-country payroll function with full-scope responsibility for reconciliations, internal controls, payroll taxes and general ledger integration
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving ability
- Outstanding communication skills (written and oral) and comfortable interacting with members of executive team on related tax matters
- 3-5 years’ experience working with and processing stock awards, defined contribution plans and other bonus schemes.
