Engineering Manager, Service Platform

The Engineering Manager for the Service Platform team at Instacart will lead the team responsible for core deployment and release engineering systems, including canary infrastructure and end-to-end deployment tooling. The role involves shaping how developers safely and efficiently ship code, partnering with product, infrastructure, and service teams to develop a reliable platform.

Location: Remote (Canada)

Salary: $196,000—$207,000 USD

Responsibilities

• Lead the Service Platform team responsible for deployment and release engineering systems.
• Partner with product, infrastructure, and service teams to define and evolve deployment platforms.
• Guide the team in building intuitive, scalable, and resilient systems.
• Set the vision, drive execution, and ensure engineers have world-class deployment, validation, and monitoring tools.
• Work closely with engineers and leaders to drive reliability and platform initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of experience leading and managing people, with deep involvement in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
• 7+ years of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• Proven track record of launching and shipping high-impact products, especially developer-facing products.
• Strong standards for production services.
