Director of Engineering, Infrastructure

The role is for an Engineering Director responsible for cloud infrastructure, leading strategy and hands-on work, with a focus on AI-native infrastructure, security, and operational excellence. It involves leading a small team, collaborating across departments, and shaping platform philosophy.

Location: Remote (US)

Salary: $195,000—$270,000 USD

Responsibilities

• Own cloud infrastructure end-to-end across cloud environments, including IaC, CI/CD, and observability.
• Own the SDLC surface area to enable rapid shipping by engineers.
• Build infrastructure that supports AI agents and safe deployment of AI-assisted apps.
• Participate in security operations related to CSPM, threat management, and patch management.
• Frame infrastructure decisions in terms of business outcomes and communicate with leadership.
• Lead and develop a small, high-impact team, collaborating with other technical leaders.

Requirements

• Deep, hands-on experience operating production infrastructure across at least two major clouds (GCP, AWS, Azure).
• Experience building and operating modern CI/CD systems, dev environments, and observability stacks.
• Experience with infrastructure across different company sizes and business contexts, including regulated domains (healthcare, financial services).
• Strong point of view on platform philosophy, standardization, and safe development practices.
• Experience shipping AI-native operational systems, such as AI agents for alert triage, RCA drafting, cost management, or runbook execution.
• Action-oriented on governance and security, with automation and documentation.
• Experience building and developing teams, hiring, and investing in growth.
• Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
